Job Summary

As a Journeyman, you will be responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, as well as responding to emergency maintenance service requests. Reporting directly to the General Foreman, you will receive daily work orders from the Maintenance Shop to address maintenance needs and ensure the smooth operation of the power plant efficiently and effectively.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities

1. Perform Preventive Maintenance:
   • Execute routine inspections, lubrications, and adjustments on machinery and equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
   • Identify potential issues and implement corrective measures to prevent equipment failure and maximize operational efficiency.
   • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including completed tasks, inspection reports, and maintenance logs.
2. Conduct Corrective Maintenance:
   • Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance service requests and work orders received from the Maintenance Shop.
   • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement appropriate repairs or replacements to restore functionality.
   • Collaborate with other technicians and tradespeople to ensure complex repairs are addressed efficiently and in a timely manner.
3. Emergency Maintenance Service:
   • Act swiftly and decisively in emergency situations, such as equipment breakdowns, power outages, or safety hazards.
   • Prioritize and respond to emergency maintenance calls, coordinating efforts to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.
   • Provide accurate and timely updates on the status of emergency repairs to the General Foreman and Facilities Maintenance Manager.
4. Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair:
   • Utilize your extensive knowledge and expertise to troubleshoot equipment failures, electrical systems, mechanical components, and control systems.
   • Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments on power plant equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, pumps, motors, and conveyors.
   • Test equipment functionality after repairs to ensure proper operation and compliance with safety standards and regulations.
5. Safety and Compliance:
   • Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulatory requirements while performing maintenance tasks.
   • Promote a safety-first culture and actively participate in safety meetings, training programs, and incident investigations.
   • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and contribute to the plant's efforts in minimizing its impact on the environment.

3. Inspection and Testing: Conduct visual inspections, non-destructive testing, and quality checks on welded joints and structural components to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.

7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of hazardous materials.
8. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of performed maintenance activities, including equipment repairs, inspections, welding procedures, and material usage, and provide detailed reports to supervisors or management as required.
9. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance technicians, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate maintenance schedules, share technical expertise, and ensure efficient workflow within the preventive maintenance team.

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a relevant trade school program is highly desirable.
• Oklahoma State Welding Certification Required (Steam Card).
• Valid journeyman license or certification in a relevant trade, such as journeyman, boilermaker, fitter, mechanical, or industrial maintenance; Rigger certification is a plus.
• Proven experience working in power plants or industrial settings; focus on coal-burning systems is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance techniques for power generating plant equipment.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting industrial, mechanical, and control systems.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
